Product idea generation process:
CEO of Santa Joint Stock Company, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ngan (34 years old), co-founder of SantaPocket smart delivery cabinet, said that shebusiness start-upfrom August 2021 in the context of the raging Covid-19 epidemic. At that time, the apartment building where she lived also applied many solutions to prevent the spread of the disease.
Realizing the severity of the epidemic and the necessity of contactless delivery, Ngan came up with many ideas. "At that time, I was also living in an apartment building. Every time I received goods, it was very difficult and I had to interact with many people and shippers. There were empty metal cabinets at the company, so I proposed to the apartment management board to use them so that residents could safely receive items at that time," Ms. Ngan shared.
From the idea of "contactless" delivery, she gathered a team of young people: engineers, software and hardware programmers to participate in research and production of smart delivery cabinets. After a short time, a smart delivery cabinet called SantaPocket was also born. This is a startup productSmart delivery solutionintegrating IoT technology. All delivery and receipt operations are performed via the phone application and the QR code placed on the cabinet. It helps save time, effort, and costs of both deliverers and receivers through online commercial channels. The smart delivery cabinet includes 17 compartments, including 3 sizes from small, medium and large for users to choose from.
Difficulties in project implementation.
From the early days, Santa's team encountered many difficulties. Research and development of smart cabinet technology requires a large investment of time, effort and finance. We face the challenge of designing, integrating technology and ensuring security for the cabinet system. Not only that, finding suitable partners and suppliers is also a big obstacle.
The biggest difficulty SANTA faces is that the smart delivery method, although it exists in many countries, is still very new to Vietnamese people. People are still used to the waytraditional deliveryand are hesitant about having to access technology and having to pay usage fees. Therefore, SANTAPOCKET smart delivery cabinets accept initial difficulties to be able to effectively bring products and habits to residents.
Many apartment management boards still do not believe in new products, the company and team are still too young. When deployed, convincing through many steps and then installed. In addition, as a newly established Vietnamese brand, competing with big-name domestic and foreign brands also makes SANTAPOCKET smart delivery cabinets difficult to reach many customers.

As someone who often buys online, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh Tam (35 years old), a resident of Decapella Apartment, Binh An Ward, Thu Duc City (HCMC) feels inconvenient in making an appointment with a shipper to deliver and receive goods. Many times Ms. Tam's packages were "floated" and it took a lot of time to contact the owner and delivery person to find them again.
"For me, since the apartment switched to using smart cabinets, I have been very satisfied. I have minimized the time to receive goods directly and find goods compared to the previous method of spontaneous receipt. The fee is reasonable for me and I have 1 hour to leave goods in the cabinet at no cost. In addition, if the goods are left for a long time, I am not afraid of them being lost anymore," Ms. Tam said.
With less than 3 years of operation, SANTAPOCKET has achieved success through telling numbers:
